In order to fully understand ships with Wade included, we need to understand who else he is primarily shipped with which include Stone and Robotnik. For a brief rundown Stone is patient, reliable and is able to deal with Robotnik's eccentric behavior whereas Robotnik is essentially the opposite in where he is a evil maniacal genius who is very strange (according to everyone else around him) and believes that he essential is one of the most smartest people ever (which is very true).
To give you the short answer, its cute and it works, to give you the long answer, all 3 both work. Do I need to elaborate... I thought so.
